our glory...

...is rare to be seen, often to be hidden. There are moments in our lives when we catch a glimpse of who we were really meant to be...moments when the light shines just perfectly as if to say, "You are the most beautiful creature alive"...or the times when everything seems to be going perfect - when spiritually, physically, and mentally we seem to really have it together - and we wish it to never end...or the moments when we are helping a homeless man on the street get food because he is to sick to walk and we think, "This is what I was made for...I have purpose". These moments come, but the rarity overtakes the moment. We vaguely get to see who we were really meant to be, and when we do we make excuses or we justify, or we deny that it is really us..."It must be the imposter" or "It was just a one moment out of my whole life" we tell ourselves. We have forgotten what our glory looks like and we live thinking that our glory will never arrive. Life keeps our glory hidden often, either by sin, by weariness, sorrow or busy-ness. This is where we must change...our life must keep our glory - our true creation - shining brighter until the day of Christ's return. I urge you, come out of hiding...see your glory, even if it doesn't look like what you imagined it. Frederick Buechner once said, "To do for yourself the best that you have it in you to do - to grit your teeth and clench your fists in order to survive the world at its harshest and worst-is, by that very act, to be unable to let something be done for you and in you that is more wonderful still. The trouble with steeling yourself against the harshness of reality is that the same steel that secures your life against being destroyed secures your life also against being opened up and transformed". (The Sacred Journey) Enter your wounds and you will discover your glory...you will find the strength that has been veiled for so long, and in that strength you will begin to offer something more than just shallow thoughts and deeds. You will begin to use that strength to heal the brokeness, to offer your true glory to those around you...no matter where you are, or what you are doing, no matter who you want to be, or who you are. We all have a glory hidden...we all have a glory to be shared. "But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, that shines brighter and brighter until the full day." Proverbs 4:18
