"We can only hope for what we desire." C.S. Lewis There is nothing more telling about our hearts than what we focus our attention on. The effect of losing our desires and settling for the mundane means being buried in duty...being busy, so much so, that God is just a longer our heart's longer the focus of why we journey through this life, ever looking towards the finish line, towards hope. We have lost sight of ourselves, and take others for granted. We have lost sight of our desires, the beauty of life, and our responsibilities as a Christian. We have become unappealing to the outside world... Then it happens, we realize our desires, and they overwhelm us when they come because we have been out of touch with them for so long. So we are set up to fall, and we are unable to distinguish between what is real and what is not. We are fooled and we become by settling, waiting for the high, and denying the thirst along the way. We deny what our souls need (prayer, stillness, strength from reading His word) to sustain us throughout each day that we wake, to give us strength to meet our desires He has given and sustain them, living the fullness of what God created us to be. In the denial of our thirst, we give up, and figure it is too late. It is the lie the enemy wants us to believe. We have been mistaken. Every setback is an opporutnity for a setup so we can make a comeback. This is your life, are you who you were meant to be? "Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near." Isaiah 55:6
