Christmas Postlude...lost and found

"Why were you searching for Me?" He asked them. "Didn't you know that I had to be in My Father's house?" Luke 2:49

Joseph, Mary and Jesus had made the 90 mile trek to Jerusalem for the Passover Festival and was now returning to Nazareth with their family and friends, in a big caravan. And in one moment, fear must have gripped them both to the core, when realizing, after a full days journey, that they did not know where Jesus was.

I can imagine the sense of hurriedness to find Him, the One that God entrusted to Mary and Joseph. And for 3 long agonizing days, they left no stone unturned. When at last, they found Him in the temple, teaching, at 12 years old. And when they confronted him, He stayed focused on His task of being in His Father's House. Joseph and Mary believed that He was lost...when in fact, they were.

The first messengers of a coming Savior rang out from the Prophets in the Old Testament. Hundreds of years later, the angels would herald the coming of the Savior in the form of a virgin birth. Not soon after, Simeon and Anna would be the chosen ones to herald the message to the Jews. And now, it was Jesus himself, as the Messenger and the Message. The savior of the world was here.

In humility, love and sacrifice, God gave us all the greatest gift ever given..."For to US a child is born, to US a Son is given." Isaiah 9:6. And His plan was in full motion, to seek and to save the lost...us.

"See, I am going to send My messenger, and he will clear the way before Me. Then the Lord you seek will suddenly come to His temple, the Messenger of the covenant you desire - see, He is coming." Malachi 3:1, Luke 7:27
